Excursions und Workshops on Thu, 28.09.2017, 1:00 - 3:30 pm

On Thu, 28.09.2017 from 1:00 - 3:30 pm  we offer a variery of excursions as well as hands-on workshops.

You can register for one of the offered program points during the registration process. Please notice that for some of the events the number of participants is limited.

You can choose between the following program points:

Barrel of Ilmenau (Ilmenauer Fass) / Mine "Volle Rose"

We offer an excursion to "Barrel of Ilmenau" (Ilmenauer Fass), a large-scale experimental facility to investigate turbulent convection. In addition you will get the opportunity to visit the mine "Volle Rose".

For further information about the barrel of Ilmenau as well as "Volle Rose" please use the following links:

Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZMN)

The Center for Micro- and Nanotechnologies (ZMN) is a Technological Base of the Institut of Micro- and Nanotechnologies (IMN MacroNano® ) of the TU Ilmenau. It is primarily located in the Feynman-building at the TU Ilmenau and forms the technological platform for the scientists at the IMN MacroNano® - from basic to applied research. As an operating unit of the TU Ilmenau, the ZMN has available about 1,500 m² laboratory space, including 750 m² in clean rooms of different classes. In addition, the ZMN has special labs for work with biological samples (safety level S1) or the installation of high-precision measuring equipment that makes possible accuracies in the nanometer range. The necessary peripheral equipment and infrastructure of a top-grade lab building - from central gas and ultraclean water supply to professional disposal and recycling of reaction products and contaminated media - complete the spectrum of services offered by the ZMN. At the ZMN, we find multi-purpose technologies for coating, structuring and surface treatment of silicon, group III based semiconductors, metals, oxides, nitrides, glasses, ceramics for hybrid technologies and conductive polymers for solar cells and transistors.

For further information about the ZMN please use the following link:

During the DPT we offer guided tours in the ZMN.

REM-Workshop

A practical insight into measurements of samples with scanning-electron-microscopy (STM) will be given during the REM-workshop.

The workshop is addressed to students or participants with no previous experience in STM. The course will take about 30 minutes and will be given 3 times for 5 persons.
