Eröffnungsveranstaltung

Begrüßung

Am Donnerstag, den 25.10.2010, sind alle Teilnehmer/innen herzlich zu der Eröffnungsveranstaltung eingeladen. Sie beginnt um 17:00 Uhr im Raum A 108 am Fraunhofer ISE mit der offiziellen Begrüßung.

Eröffnungsvortrag

Um 18:00 Uhr folgt dann der Eröffnungsvortrag von Prof. Dr. Elke Scheer von der Universität Konstanz mit dem Titel
"Electronic Transport in Single-Molecule Devices". 

Molecular electronics aim at the development of nano-electronic circuits, the functional units of which are formed by molecules. The basic components of electronics are switches, wires, capacitors, transistors and diodes. After a brief overview over the field of Molecular Electronics we concentrate in this talk on hybrid devices consisting of single molecules contacted with adjustable metallic electrodes.
We will first address the problem of contact formation between the single molecule und the metal electrodes. We will present two studies in which we systematically vary the linking groups between the metal and the molecule. In a third study we discuss the role of the metal in use for providing the contact. Finally we will address selected examples of functional molecules the transport properties of which change markedly upon stretching or under light irradiation.

Anschließend an den Eröffnungsvortrag ist Gelegenheit, bei einem Sektempfang im Foyer (gegen 19:00 Uhr) alte Kontakte zu pflegen und neue zu knüpfen. Die Veranstaltung ist kostenlos und frei für alle Tagungsteilnehmer/innen.
