Guided tours

The guided tours through the institutes and the historical archives will take place on Thursday October 15, 2015 between 2:30 - 3:30 pm.

The meeting point for the tours is the foyer of the Institute of Physics. The following institutes will open up their doors for you:

• Atomic- and Nuclearphysics
• Biophysics
• Materiaslphysics
• X-ray physics
• Solar System Research
• Astrophysics

• Historical archives

The tours take place in groups of 10 persons, this implies that every participant gets the opportunity to visit 1-2 of these stations.

Opening event

The opening event will take place at the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research. After the welcoming of the vice president of the University Prof. Diederichsen the plenary talk will be given by Saskia Hekker at 4 pm, which will be followed by a champagne reception in the foyer.

Guided city tour

After the opening event there will be a guided tour through the oldest part of the town of Göttingen. Two tour will be offered: "Wissenschaft mit Charme - Frauen schreiben Geschichte" und "Gelehrte, Bürger, Originale", both will be given in German. The meeting point for the tour is the famous Goose-girl-fountain in front of the old town hall at 7:30 pm. Please register for the city tour during the online-registration.

Public talk

Marion Esch from the MINT-Education-Excellence Foundation Berlin will give a public talk in Lecture Hall 1 at the Physics building on Friday October 16, 2015.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner will take place at the Weender Festhalle (Ernst-Fahlbusch-Straße 20, 37077 Göttingen) on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 7 pm.
During the dinner we offer round-table discussion groups that are hosted by several speakers of the conference. Please register for the conference dinner during the online-registration process. For registered participants the dinner including all drincs will of course be free of charge. For later registrations we cannot guarantee a seat at the conference dinner.
